The Jake Group recently launched a new website for Elgin Butler, one of the few ceramic brick manufacturers in the country, and by far the oldest, with its foundation dating back to 1873. Traditionally, Elgin marketed to distributors, builders, and masons, but has recently shifted its focus to a more design-minded audience — namely architects. They needed an aesthetically pleasing and functional website to cater to this new design-oriented market, and Jake was up to the challenge.
We implemented a searchable project portfolio, CAD shape downloads, and other tools that help designers find inspiration and imagine projects using Elgin’s ceramic glazed masonry products. This website strategy alignment has been met with great success. Since the redesign, pages per visit are up 12.71%, average visit duration is up 114.79%, and bounce rate is down 33.6%. All of these statistics suggest a stickier and more user-friendly website.
We also noticed another interesting website statistic: mobile traffic on Elgin’s site grew over 40% in the last year. With mobile devices accounting for an increasingly larger percentage of web traffic, we were thrilled to assist Elgin Butler in bringing their website up to the latest responsive web design standards. Not only does the website look great on a wide variety of devices, ranging from mobile to desktop, but we also implemented a number of unique features to cater to their dynamic website visitors.
Elgin Butler also has a vast network of dealers, and needed a centralized place so those dealers could get the information they needed, securely. To handle this, we created a password-protected portal to house important documents like sales forms and price lists. Combined with the aforementioned mobile-readiness of the website, this means dealers have easy access to this information when they need it most: on the go.
A great website should be custom-tailored to its audience, both functionally and aesthetically. With Elgin Butler, we covered every possibility.
