The Jake Group is boutique digital agency in the Washington, DC metro area developing custom digital marketing solutions for a wide variety of clients. We are seeking a well-rounded WordPress Developer to join our growing team. This position works with the President/Creative Director, Technical Director, and development team to implement interactive solutions for our clients.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work with a fast-paced web team to produce high-quality and innovative digital projects using an array of web development tools, with emphasis on front-end design and features;
  • Contribute to client web marketing projects including search engine optimization, social networking and online public relations efforts;
  • Collaborate to improve and expand our product and service offerings, as well as internal processes.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong development expertise using core tools HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and PHP;
  • Experience working with WordPress, building custom WordPress themes and/or plugins, and configuring content using custom fields;
  • Familiarity working in a collaborative development workflow using virtual development environments, version control systems, and command line interface to support the deployment and maintenance of web projects;
  • Experience with modern front-end Javascript frameworks such as React, Angular, etc., as well as jQuery library;
  • Expertise in some of the following additional development tools: Node.js, CSS preprocessors, REST API, Git, Timber/Twig;
  • Experience creating responsive web interfaces for mobile devices;
  • Detail-oriented approach to editing and testing websites for accuracy, usability, and accessibility;
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices, structured data protocols, social media integration, website analytics, and other online marketing strategies to promote ongoing website growth;
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills;
  • Comfortable working as part of a small and busy creative team; and
  • Ability to adhere to production schedules and work under tight deadlines.

Benefits

Pay and benefits commensurate with experience. Work is entirely remote for the time being, though may return to a hybrid model in the future with our main office in Georgetown.
